Silk City is Better than it used to Be

Silk City is usually closed but I visited on a Friday night and it was open for business. They were charging a $20 cover charge which is high for the area. I arrived about 11:00 pm and there were literally dozens of girls 90% of which were Dominicans. They ranged from 5-7 none were really beautiful, but I also didn’t see any beasts. The place itself has been renovated from the old days, it now has two bars one near the front were the old one used to be and a larger square bar towards the back with a stage and two poles in the center. The place was clean, so were the bathrooms. I emphasize the cleanliness in contrast to the old days. The previous club at this location was pretty nasty. It used to have poor lighting disgusting bathrooms and the VIPs were done in a storage closet and the girls (all Brazilian at the time) would offer FS on top of the beer cases in the storage. This is nothing at all like that. As a matter of fact I did not see any area for lap dances or VIPs and was not offered any. The place appears to be operating as a “ficha” bar. For those who don’t know that’s these bars that became very common in Queens on Roosevelt Ave 20 years ago. They cater to immigrant men and bring in girls who will keep them company. The way they make money is by getting you to buy them overpriced drinks and with each drink the girl gets a “ficha” or ticket which she then exchanges for cash at the end of the night. Overall, this place is 100% better than it used to be. However, it’s relatively high cover price plus the fact that lap dances don’t seem to be offered makes it difficult to recommend.
