Friday night at the Cabaret
I get out to this club once in awhile. I happened to be in the area, so I decided to stop by. I arrived at around 9 on a recent Friday night. The first thing I noticed pulling up to the parking lot was how full the parking lot was. There were no parking spaces left in the parking lot, I had to park on the street. To enter the club you go down a small flight of stairs. There is a sign on the door that says no marijuana on premises, that ought to tell you what kind of area this is. The cover was 5 bucks on this night. Some nights there’s no cover, some things there’s no cover with a two drink minimum, other nights there is a 5 dollar cover. I never what the cover situation will be when going to Cabaret.
You enter the club, and the bathroom is on the left down a few flight of stairs. The club is decent sized I would say. This club has stadium seating, which is something I haven’t seen in any other clubs in Portland. There are three levels of seating. There is one main stage in the middle of the club, then there is a cage, a tiprail on the third level seating, and a minor tiprail by the DJ. There is a smoking patio, and I remember seeing at least one lottery machine. Drink wise (at least at night) it wasn’t too cheap. I think it was like $6.75 for a rum and coke.
Customer wise it was mainly a younger crowd with a few older people sprinkled in there. The majority of the customers were Latino. This club is located near Gresham where there are a lot of Latinos, so that makes sense as far as the customers.
