I was actually asked to review Cheerleaders after not having been there in YEARS as the bouncers there think they're tough guys and found out the hard way, they're not. We'll get to that.
My buddies and I from Delco went down on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. At the time, my girl was dancing for Delilah's and I didn't want to go there and a few months earlier we had gone with her to some trash heap called Fantasy Show Bar in Jersey on The Pike. I know it sounds like I'm way off course, but you'll need it for context. Anyway, while we were at Fantasy Show Bar, there was this cute little blond that was just nasty to a member of our party. He was a tall, skinny kid that I think was clearly into her and was tipping her crazy and she just talked to him like garbage.
Sooo, we get to Cheerleaders months later and guess who is there? This little blond. Well, I've got that same kid with us. He's younger than us at the time. He's 21, I'm 26/27 at the time and so is the rest of my party. We're there 45 minutes and already have blown $3,000 easy. The skinny guy is fighting for KOTC (this is in the early 2000s) and is just blowing through money. He asks that girl for a dance and she is nasty as hell with him. We all laughed, because she's trippin.
The other ladies are all VERY NICE. Bartender is giving this girl the eye like, "what the hell is your deal" and skinny dude comes over to me and is like, "Yo Jamie, what's the deal here". I told him to just leave it alone and he's laid back, so he does. Next thing you know, she has gotten security for NO REASON.
Some sloppy looking 6'5 dude comes over to the kid with us and physically threatens him.
Let's stop there.
That's not how you handle it, especially if you don't know what happened. Our guy has done NOTHING wrong. The bartender immediately yelled at security. Security tells the bartender to do her job and is in our guy's face, trying to use his size as a deterrent. I've fought for decades out of Delco, this was NOT a smart move by their security.
Still, the kid we're with tries to talk down security and tell his side of the story and is CALM.
Have I established that all that has happened at this point is the young guy asked to pay for a dance? That's it. The girl apparently thought he was ugly because he had cauliflower ear.
This security guy calls over two more guys and proceeds to grab this kid. Three dudes grab a kid that is 6'4, probably 185. Annnd, the security guy catches one to the orbital bone and knees.
That's what happens when you start a fight with someone that knows how to fight.
And then they grab others in my party and me. And we're in the parking lot. And Philly PD are explaining to them why they just got beaten up by an off duty police officer that also fights on the side and a few other pro fighters.
My point and I guess why I was asked to review this place...
Their security is trouble waiting to happen. This was nearly 20 years ago and apparently, they just had ANOTHER incident. The security are running scams for the dancers while they sell coke on the side. This was THIS WEEK. Then threatening normal people.
If you have this happen to you, take in some not so normal people. Their security are just fat guys. They can't throw.
