Positive first visit and a fan of the Cubans too

The first time I tried to visit this club was the first day it was closed for whatever (gas leak, no liquor license????) so yesterday ended up being my first time since they were reportedly back open. It seems like this club has been known as the new home of the Cubans (post-Follies) and I'm normally not a fan of the Cubans but the couple other clubs I've tried since the close of Follies has been hit or miss...mostly miss.

I arrived on Thursday around 2:15pm and the parking lot was pretty full, at least more than I expected for that time of day. As I waited for the valet, I noticed a security guard in the parking lot closer to the main road side of the lot. There were 3 or 4 different valets which also surprised me. $10 for valet, light pat down by super huge bouncer guy and $5 entry fee to the girl at the door. Bouncer asked for ID but barely looked at it...no big deal.

Walked in and Sparky, one of the main daytime bathroom trolls from Follies recognized me and we talked for a few. I know a lot of people don't like the bathroom trolls, but it was good to see him, made me think of good times. To the right as you enter is a square room with a pool table I think, but I remembered from reading previous reviews that it was brighter than the other side of the club, so I really didn't even consider going in there. It was empty anyways except maybe one person. Straight ahead is a small bar that had one open seat so I sat and ordered a Crown & Coke for $10. After 5 minutes of getting adjusted to the layout, I wandered to the left side of the club as the bar area felt really cramped.
