After the Third Wave of Covid
It had been a year since I had been out to a club, and I was anxious just to see some women dancing. I had read that the OSC was open, so I headed to West Philly. I arrived about 5:25 on a Friday afternoon (heavy traffic around the University), and did not see any lights in the building. I almost past on until I saw a woman entering the building through the far right door. I parked and went inside. I was greeted by the bouncer who did a quick frisk for weapons, then paid my $10 cover charge at the bar.
There was no one sitting at the bar downstairs, but there were six guys sitting in pairs at the small round tables along the windows. After a stop at the downstairs lavatory, and noticing that none of the women had left their belongings in the pool room, I headed upstairs. What a surprise: there were about a dozen or more “brothers” standing around the bar or sitting on the long bench. There was also a handful of women standing around in street-clothes” twirking from time to time. There were only two women dressed to go on stage. One was “Tiny” (the regular who is there almost every day, and stands about 4’10” with a small frame) and another dancer who was new to me (a BBW with bright red straw-like hair. They were alternating half-hour shifts on stage.
