A Big Thumbs Up
I stopped by at about 5:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The tiny parking lot looked about 75% full. There was a sign for valet parking, but don’t know how much it is. I turned onto the side street, went about 25 yards past the club, and parked for free.
There has been a club operating under various names at this location for as long as I can remember. It used to be a mixed/white club, like Tattletale down the street, but at some point, at least twenty years ago I think, it became a black club. I used to visit fairly regularly in the past, but hadn’t been in the building in decades, at least.
The club looks pretty much the same as it always has, except for the sign over the door that has changed over the years. Inside the door is a small anteroom with a counter to the right for the doorman/doorgirl to collect the cover. There was no cover at this time of day, but the guy at the counter checked my temperature with a no touch thermometer, and then advised that the City of Atlanta had recently started requiring masks for all staff AND customers. He was selling masks for $5 each for those who didn’t have one. I did have a mask in my car, but I didn’t want to walk back out into the Atlanta heat to my car on the side street, so I paid $5 for a mask and went in. I wore it under my chin like almost everyone else in the club.
