Serious Grind
For anyone curious about the DC COVID club situation, I called Good Guys and no one ever picked up. DC was basically closed for the weekend so I had to set my sights on VA for the first time ever. Virginia’s mandatory pasties always turned me off, but desperate times.
Paper Moon is hilariously located in an unassuming strip mall environment, among things like Potbelly and Chipotle. So extremely safe and suburban, at least. I thought it stuck out like a sore thumb with its big neon sign and dark windows, but it was discreet enough that my Uber driver asked “what’s this place?”
$10 to get in. Pretty small place. Looks like it could’ve been a restaurant at some point. Plenty of tablecloth cafe tables with little candles makes it look like it still is. But they managed to fit in TWO tiny stages, both of which were in use. Small U-shaped bar in the corner. Not bad. I will always say the strength of the D-M-V area, with its high immigrant population, is the diversity of dancers.
