Follies Three-Peat

Though I live many hours away, I’ve been going to Follies several times a year for more than 20 years. I’ve seen a few changes (Show of hands: Remember the pool table? OK, a few of you do), but Follies has remained surprisingly consistent. It’s amazing to me that the price of floor dances has not changed a penny in all that time.

On a recent trip to Atlanta, I was there three days in a row – Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Feb 6-7-8, all during the afternoon. I will share some observations, but first I’ll throw a few donuts to the Not Enough Details Police:

Parking is valet only, unless you get there early enough that they’re not set up yet, and it’s either $5, $10, $15, or $20 depending on what time it is. No cover weekday afternoons, $5 on Saturday and Sunday. Bottled water is $5.00, and there is usually a bathroom troll. Afternoons the club is primarily a $10 UHM lap dance factory, and at night it’s more of an urban, make-it-rain club. VIPs are private; 30 minutes will set you back $50 to the house for the room, and a minimum of $100 (if you can get that price, but probably not anymore) up to maybe $250 or $300 for the girl. The only limits for what goes on in the VIP are set by the individual girls. Dancers are a mix of races and body types with pretty much something for everyone. During the day there can easily be 50-70 girls working (any day of the week). I haven’t gone at night for maybe a dozen years or so, so I can no longer provide much intel on that, but you will wait in line to get in, pay a higher cover, and probably not have as much contact with the girls.
