All in the Family....and it didn't die at 6 pm....
Haven't been to the Bit in ages, and don't think I've ever written it up, but this particular trip was worthy. Bit was, in the past, not a favorite due to the fact that it all but rolls up the sidewalk at 6 pm. Odd how much of a daytime place it is. Compared to Clancy's, which has a distinct and sometimes busy afternoon scene, the Bit was always just OK during the day, then a parade out the door between 6 and 7 pm, leaving me staring at a soccer match on the TV.
This trip, a weekday in early Dec., was slightly different. I pulled up - parked all the way around back to get a look to see if the lot was crowded. About a dozen cars, but while I sat there, at about 3:30 pm, two cars pulled up, and dropped off 3 dancers. Huh... new arrivals? I went in the back door by the smoking shack - which is always a good move as you sometimes can chat up dancers out there - they act like they're on a break from a movie set and are sometimes much more human than when they return to their "act" inside.
Didn't notice any changes in the setup, a few clearly regular old-timers around the back straight of the bar, but most of the circular bar was open. Hmm... clearly not 12 patrons, and 3 new dancers. I went all the way round to the other side, opposite the curtain rooms ( still curtains, still metal clips holding them closed ). The bar breaks back there to allow entrance to the inside of the bar, and the two seats between the break and the outside wall were taken up by two dancers, all up in their phones, oblivious.
