HL doesn’t really deliver, but a visiting dancer did
After a five year absence, work took me back to Phoenix. I checked in with a few of the local TUSCLers to get some fresh intel and planned my itinerary. Thanks fellas! This review is from several weeks ago and my experience was consistent with what has been reported during 2019.
I had a pretty open schedule and a not too early meeting the next day where I didn’t have to be too sharp, so I planned an aggressive afternoon/evening/night of clubbing and wanted to hit 3-4 clubs. It didn’t happen, but that was a good thing (foreshadowing). After some fun at Bandaids, I took a short Uber over to HL and got there a little after 8p. I paid a small cover ($10) and walked in. I think there was an ID scan but I’m a bit foggy on some details. The place was kinda empty with maybe 12-15 guys and slightly more girls walking around but with pretty low energy. I grabbed a seat at the bar and got comfortable.
The stage dances were ok and there were short breaks where nobody was up there. Music was mostly classic rock. Been awhile since I heard so much Zeppelin. I was drinking Coronas which were about $6 plus tip. Most of the tables were singles or a guy and a girl but there was a group of five guys or so by the rail who looked like they’d been there a while and had glasses and empty bottles lined up on their table. Not sure why the staff didn’t clear them? Those guys were having a good time and had a steady stream of the hotter dancers stop by, but few of them were buying dances. The girls were scoping the room to try and find a better deal, but there weren’t many PL’s for them to target. Occasionally, a couple or two would head into the new and improved fishbowl VIP (sarcasm) but none stayed too long in there and I tried to be polite and avert my eyes from what was a pretty clear view. Thumbs down.
