Barebones club but excellent value

Follies was the last club I visited during my time in Atlanta. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to make it to this place, but given its legendary status I felt it would be pretty unfortunate to not check it out while I was in Atlanta. In short, compared to the other clubs I visited in Atlanta, Follies wins the value category hands down, although the quality of girl is lower than at Tattletale and significantly less than the dancers at Cheetahs. Also, don’t go expecting much in terms of the club itself.

First thing to note is that it takes a bit of time to get to Follies, especially from downtown during the rush hour. Cab ride to/from was about 30-40 minutes each way. Location-wise, it’s pretty safe given it’s located in a pretty trafficked area right across from a strip mall. I got there right around 3PM and I was stunned by the number of cars in the parking lot, which was packed. I’m not sure if I misunderstood the cashier but I guess there’s no entry fee during the daytime (?) because she said something about a tip and then just went inside without taking any money for me so I ended up just throwing some singles into the tip jar and walked in.

First impressions of the club are that it’s a no-frills club with a pretty non-descript exterior and interior. Inside, it is pitch black and I couldn’t see anything for the first few minutes and it didn’t really get much better even after my eyes adjusted to the light level, which made it a bit hard to rate some of the girls. Also, you get hit with a ton of smoke once you enter so expect to come out smelling like cigarettes. The inside layout was also kind of weird in that the center bar area is surrounded by the stage/catwalk, which then form barriers to the outside seating area. The only reason I mention this it got a little claustrophobic trying to figure out how to get from one end of the club to the other especially when you can’t see where you’re going. As expected from the number of cars parked outside, there were a ton of customers inside, probably minimum of 60, and it seemed like there were at least 40 girls wandering around as well, which was quite impressive for a random Tuesday afternoon. Drinks weren’t too expensive, think I spent around $25 for a couple of mixed drinks including tips.
