Stopped by in the evening for...
Stopped by in the evening for the first time in a number of years. There was a shooting last year in the parking lot (perhaps a little more than a year ago, if I recall correctly) and the neighborhood isn't the greatest in that part of town (but not right by the club), but the strongly increased police presence due to the Katrina refugees in that part of town has really reduced a lot of the crime there, so I decided to give it a shot (so to speak) after dark.
My goodness was it busy! I usually stop by in the afternoon, sometimes on weekend afternoons, and it is dead at those times compared to the evening, apparently. I was very impressed. I was a lot less impressed when it took 20 minutes to get a drink, and then only when I went up and stopped a waitress and asked for a drink. I should have just headed to the bar, I think. There was something of a shortage of circulating dancers so I asked my waitress if she could recommend any. She responded that "on a night like this" she probably couldn't. From the staffing level (the waitresses were literally working up a sweat), this may not be the usual crowd level. The evening dancers did have more 9s and 10s, for sure, than the day, and the average age seemed to be a little younger (this is not to suggest that the day shift is shag nasty, because it isn't, just more 9s and 10s, and fewer marginal 6s and 7s at night). Anyhow, I finished one drink and was waiting on a second one unmolested by any dancer, despite looking around for a free one every chance I got. Just as I was wondering if I had to toss a firecracker into the dressing room to flush some out, a petite, somewhat chunky Hispanic dancer stopped by and asked if I was waiting on anyone (seeing the finished drink on the table; the waitress had been too overloaded to grab it). I said no, and she sat down and took a breather for a few minutes. She was nice, but not really what I was looking for, and she got up and moved on after a few minutes. I was wondering whether I had just passed up my only opportunity for a dance that evening when I saw an attractive blond on stage. I got up before any of the other greedy horndogs and tipped her, and she came over afterwards and we talked for a few minutes before retiring to the rooms for dances. For people who have not been to St. James, he dances take place in small, semi-private rooms off of the first floor's main stage area and upstairs along the bannister overlooking the stages. She asked me if I had been there before, and I said irregularly, which is not, by the way, a bad answer, because what a dancer who asks that question wants to know is if you are aware of expected contact levels/extras expectations. She did one dance and asked if I was looking for anything else, and I got a nice hand job for three more dances. A little more expensive than the day shift (as often as not you can get a blow job for $80), but not bad at all.
So, to recap, same excellent St. James service and somewhat prettier women! But slow or nonexistent waitressing and some understaffing (at lunch, I can get in and out in 30 minutes, it took two hours this evening). So my rating is lower for the evening.
