Ricks Goes Geriatric
I was a long time regular of the old version of Ricks until it closed about a decade ago. Had heard this was the latest incarnation sans the Colacurcios so decided to take the plunge and drop by while i was in NE Seattle a few weeks ago.
First observation was that the club was a lot smaller and more run down than its ancestor down the road. Whoever did this club looks like they wanted to copy the Franks and likely used his formula as a model for this "new" club (so to speak). While the seats are the same garish lipstick red and the stages similar, the problems lie in the execution. Simply put the layout and the lighting just suck bananas. It was depressing and the vibe just wasn't there. Seats were awkward and falling apart and that open space in the middle offered no pre dance privacy. Then there's the placement of the bathrooms. What kind of genius puts the bathrooms with a birds eye view of the VIP area? Guy after guy was taking the slow walk to the head and most clearly tarried near the door to get an eyeful of the dances. So hey, even less privacy there.
Next, the dancers on shift that day seemed to be lifers on the verge of getting their Golden Garters. Didn't look like any were under 40 except for one petite and perky Asian gal. All the rest looked like they'd all been ridden hard and put away wet, with some incredibly being a few legacy holdovers from the original Ricks. Hung loose for about 45 before i bounced a little disillusioned from the experience. I did get a few dances in the back from the perky Asian who was fun but aside from that, it just wasn't there for me. Ahhh well, like the old saying goes, you can't go home again and those great Ricks memories seem destined to remain forever in the past. Disapointing and probably won't be back again
