I expected Follies to be the most fun of the clubs I tried in my Atlanta tour, and it met those expectations. I visited twice - on a Tuesday and a Friday, both times arriving between 2:30 and 3:30. Both times the valet was running and cost $20. I was surprised, for some reason, by the friendliness and efficiency of the valet. People here complain about paying to park their car, but I didn't think it was a big deal, and I got my car back quickly both trips. Neither day had a cover charge ("just a tip") when I arrived. $20 total to get into the club didn't seem outrageous, though it was more than I paid at other clubs in the area. Bottles of water were $4.25.

The first thing I noticed upon entering Follies was that I'd gone blind. The club was exceptionally dark. I had thought American Bush in Salt Lake was pretty dark, but I had to adjust my scale after entering Follies, especially coming in from a bright afternoon. I had to just pause a moment before I could see my feet and try to make my way into the club.

The club has a bar straight back from the entrance, with stages on either side. The right side was usually busier than the left, and seemed more filled with groups. On Tuesday I managed to find a table on the left side, near the DJ booth. It had a good view of the stage. The club was fairly smoky, though not as bad as I feared, and both dancers and patrons openly smoked weed despite it not yet being legal in Georgia. I'm glad it's being ignored; it should be legal nationwide. But if the city wanted to cause problems, they could easily come up with any number of possession busts without even bothering with whether dances were going too far.
