Barely worth the visit

So I wanted to try out some of the other SF Broadway clubs since Centerfolds has been kind of on the downswing recently, and I stopped into the Penthouse club right across the street on a Wednesday night after work. I used to hit up this club a lot about a decade ago when it was called Showgirls, and it was the go to club for me and my friends when we wanted to do happy hour at a strip club in the city after work. Quick summary is that Penthouse wasn't any better than Centerfolds in terms of quality/number of girls or overall enjoyment/vibe of the club. Only benefit is that you can get alcohol in the club (which means it's topless only).

The club itself is pretty nice, and it has a very nice interior similar to what you get at the Gold Club. There's a large main stage surrounded by tables to your right as you enter. To your left there's a raised area with a few booths, another stage area, and the bar area where you can go if you aren't sitting at a table and/or can't find a waitress. The layout is pretty open, and you won't feel too claustrophobic or feel like you're up against another group, which is nice. The back/raised area was really not in use since there were very few dancers and customers there that night, and there were maybe only a handful of guys at the bar chatting with a couple of the dancers while they got drinks and food. There's also an upstairs area where you can do VIP sessions (if memory serves me), although I don't think anyone was up there on this night since I didn't see any movement in any of those areas when I went to use the bathroom which is also located in the upstairs area. On a side note, the bathroom smelled to high heaven.

The night I went was shockingly quiet. There were maybe 10-12 girls total working that night and they were mostly in the 6-7 range. It's not like any of them were bad looking but pretty much every one of them was just your plain, average girl who happened to be in their underwear and wearing makeup and heels. There weren't any real stunners in the lineup so even getting dances from a hottie standpoint was out of the question. Most of the dancers seemed to be going through the motions and didn't seem that enthusiastic about being there. There weren't that many guys in the audience either so after 1-2 trips around the audience without landing a dance, they probably just gave up. Based on the conversations I had with the girls circulating, it was fairly clear that there was no chance of getting anything but a regular dance. Granted it was raining that night so maybe some of the girls didn't want to come in since they figured it'd be a slow night, but I would have assumed after most of the SF clubs switched over from contractor/employee status, they could set schedules so there'd be more girls working each night.
