Nice Sunday night at Bare Assets
In Key West on vacation and went to Bare Assets on Sunday Feb 10, 2019 from about 9;45 to 11:15 pm. It’s on Truman Ave about half a mile from Duval St. There is a decent amount of parking around the club. I didn’t have a car but easily walked from my hotel near the south end of Duval. The mixed residential and commercial area seemed safe and I had no concerns about walking back after 11. The entrance is about 2/3 of the way along the rectangular building. As you enter the bar is to the right. To the left is a “T” shaped stage with 3 poles, not raised vary high up with a higher rail around it, with seats around the rail. Fairly fancy decor with colored lights etc. Ceilings were fairly low. Smoking was allowed. There were no TV’s. Tables and chairs scattered around the floor. Several “ViP” alcoves around the perimeter of the room. They could be closed off from the room with curtains. One group of a couple of customers and some dancers went into one of these spaces followed by a waitress with some bottles and then closed the curtain.
The sign on the door said cover was $10 after 8pm, but I was only charged $5. Orange juice was $5. There were several waitresses but no drink hustle. There were about 20 customers. A few female customers, who got quite a bit of attention at the stage. Also about 20 dancers with number increasing as time went on. Hours are 4pm-4am so 10pm might be shift change. Dancers mostly in good shape, a few at bit heavier and some tats. About half appeared Latina. No AA or oriental. Some of the Latinas had decent English. Quite a few Spanish language songs were being played. Songs seemed full length. Dancers did 2 song sets, topless in first, some not all dropped bottom in second. Later on they had 2 dancers at a time on stage. There was a fair amount of stage tipping.
Lap dances were $20/song payable to the dancer afterwards. The lap dance area is on the same wall as the entrance separated from the main room by curtains. It is open within with bench seats, no privacy within the room. DJ advertised Champagne Room, a sign at one end of the bar marked “Blue Diamond Room”. Don’t know prices, dancers didn’t push them. I only had dances with one dancer, 5 in total, one group of 3 and another of 2. She was a B cup, 20’s woman from Germany. She said she was in Key West to get away from the cold weather back home. She approached me on the floor, the only one to do so although others asked about laps when I tipped at the stage. She didn’t count partial songs, asked if I wanted to continue after every song, and didn’t ask for extra tips. The dance was two way touch except between the legs. No stick shifting from her or mention of extras.
