Slumming It
By just about any definition, a trip to Henry VIII Inkster qualifies as "slumming it." Usually I stick to $10 dance Mondays to scout for any diamonds in the rough, but I had decided to stop by over the holiday break to see if any quality talent might make my naughty list.
Standard $5 cover and bottled domestic beer for $6.75 (they do seem to run occasional specials). The club layout hasn't changed since my first visit here -awkward circulation and sightlines that make it just about impossible to see more than one stage at a time or scan the room for dancers that aren't performing. This is the benefit of the "all-call" when the DJ calls dancers to the stage at once for a single song. Unless a dancer is busy in VIP, this gives you a look at the full roster.
On this evening talent was mixed at best. About a half-dozen dancers, 90% Caucasian (usually there's a much greater diversity, with AA often around 50%). Quality was a wider range, unfortunately skewing toward the low end of the scale. Overall I'd rate the night's lineup 5/10, with only one marginal 7 (statuesque blonde) bringing the rating that high. Coincidentally, there were two waitresses and a shot girl working, all of whom would have raised the bar if they were dancing instead.
