Hadn't been to the is place in many years, at least a couple incarnations ago; it is by a major subway stop on a major street that is on the edge of a gentrified area that has nightlife; the area is funky but reasonably safe... when I walked in, the layout was completely different. Is divided into two rooms and the main room where the bar is actually smaller than the other room. The bar comes out as a rectangle from the back wall with the small stage and pole in the middle. At 10PM on a Tuesday night there were around 15 dancers that I could see--all African-American--and about 25 customers )all but two A-A). A brief pat-down at the door but no cover charge on this night. What hit me as soon as I came in the door was the energy... even though it was a modest crowd, there was a party vibe, dancers talking or dancing on customers, the music was high-energy hip-hop (none of that downtempo trap crap that so many clubs are playing) and the one dancer onstage was twerking with good energy. It reminding of a black neighborhood club back in the day. A beer cost me $7. The only downside was the dancer quality in terms of attractiveness, ranging from a 3 to a 7, with most in the 4 - 5 category. They were friendly though; one came around and grinded on me as I sat. I believe they have a private dance option but since none of the dancers appealed to me I didn't try that option. In short, if you're looking for a fun spot to have a couple beers and watch some girls shake their stuff, it's cool. If you're looking for hot chicks or great decor, this ain't it.
