Is it really worth it?
So I've been coming here for over a decade. Dancers have come and gone, but it's always been consistent...good looking women, without too much silicone or fake Barbi doll types. It's never been a dive, but we're talking DC no touch rules, so it was never going to be Vegas.
This makes me wonder what the point of the push to become some over priced VIP club. They now charge a $10 cover for evenings. One of the things I liked about DC clubs is that there was never a cover. Sure, drinks are seriously marked up ($10-15), but no cover charge. So now they charge a cover. There is also this big push for their VIP area. Dancers are trying to sell VIP area. But is there really a market for this? DC laws still prohibit contact, so you're not getting a lap dance. I've had dancers sell that they can "cuddle" on the couch, but is that really worth it (Monday discount for 3 dancers for an hour was priced around $1200). Don't get me wrong, the VIP area is really nice, and they've added a semitransparent curtain to give some sense of privacy, but you're not getting the Vegas experience. I always liked that Archibald's felt like a comfortable local club. It knew what it was and you knew what you were in for (cute girl next door type dancers that would hit you up for over priced drinks, and do the dollar walk after each set). All this VIP stuff just seems out of place. But maybe there us a market for $1000 for no touch dance and a cuddle on a sofa, but I don't see it (the two times I've gone VIP I was the only person up there).
