Giving a Club Its Due

Rick’s in San Antonio is a club that requires time to fully appreciate. On my last couple of visits a couple of years back, I didn’t stay long because there just wasn’t anything which caught my eye. On the visit I reviewed back in 2016, I did get some muff smashed into my face at the stage so there was clearly an upside.

Recent visits would have probably ended the same way, except a fellow TUSCLer convinced me to be patient and take a closer look. Now that I’ve done that, I’m willing to call this place my favorite club of the moment in San Antonio. If you’re not in a hurry, there’s a lot to like here. Drinks are reasonable. DJ is good. Management is chill. Waitresses are good overall. They sometimes pick and choose who they want to focus on, but once you get one or two who like you you’re good to go. They can also get bought off the floor, so sometimes they're locked in with a customer who's paid for their time and not ignoring you.
