Steadily Improving
I was able to make a visit down here because I was in San Diego for work, and I decided this time to try out a room at Hotel Jalos instead of Cascadas to see what it was like and let the rest of you know. So here's the skinny on that: Jalos is the hotel right above the club, and it's a small, two-storey affair. There's two kinds of room, a single and a jacuzzi. I booked the single, and it was $30 for the night plus a $3 deposit for a key (yes, an actual key), and $5 if you want a TV remote (I didn't). No issue at all getting the $3 back. The website said $25 for the room, but the difference was too small to quibble over and might have been because it was the 15th. The rooms are small but clean, and are basically the same as the old rooms at Cascadas, so there's no a/c.
One of the girls in the club told me that the jacuzzi rooms have a/c, but they're listed at $80 on the website and I didn't want to spend the extra. I should have spent the extra, because it was pretty hot. For those who don't like the club noise seeping in, you don't want to stay here. If you're looking for a reasonably priced alternative to Cascadas, this is worth considering. The guy at the front desk wasn't particularly good at his job, and if there's more than a couple of people lined up for an arriba room as you get in, you will have some waiting to do.
The club was fairly jumping on Saturday, and after visiting at Adelitas and HK, I'd rate the quality of the girls as at least on the level of Adelitas. HK is becoming a waste of time for me on Saturday nights because of the sheer numbers of people there, and like the last time I was in TJ it seemed like everybody with a big and trashy blonde girlfriend thought it was the place to be.
