THE BORDER

There are two major crossings to get into Mexico. I chose to cross the border near where the 805 goes into Mexico which is the newer crossing. I arrived around 7PM on a Sunday and parked behind the Jack in the Box which is a paid parking lot. On the weekends, it's $12 every 8 hours and $8/8 hours for the rest of the week. They made me pay $12 up front. Most of the lot was full so I imagine it might not be available if you come here on a Friday or Saturday night. This parking lot is also pretty close to the border entrance, if not the closest.
