After a long hiatus I decided to visit Baby Dolls again on a recent trip to Dallas. I actually hadn't been there since the club moved from its previous location which I believe was on Northwest highway. I had visited the old location many times in years past and always enjoyed the experience. Although it's probably unfair to judge the new club on the basis of a single visit, my first reaction is that even though the new club is much more upscale, I actually liked the old club better. It probably has more to do with the dancers than the bricks and mortar, but I found the old club to be more "friendly" and somewhat more "sleasy" (both of which I like) than the new club. The dancers in the new club seem much more mercenary in my opinion, whereas many of the girls in the old club would sit down and talk with you for a while after you watched them dance and tipped them, even if you didn't accept their offers for a private dance. In addition, the old club had a VERY dark area in the back, and although it didn't have any really private booths, the back area was certainly very private as long as the club wasn't crowded.

The new club is set up similarly in the sense that there is a main stage and about 5 satellite stages and the dancers rotate from the main to the 5 satellites in two song sets. There is a VIP area upstairs, but I haven't spent the cash to go up there, primarily because I didn't meet any dancers who appeared to be worth the investment. That is not to say that there wasn't plenty of eye candy, but none of those that I tipped and tried to make conversation with showed any sign of being "friendly" in a more private setting. I'd say that there were a few 8s and 9s, lots of 7s (7 is still a good rating on my scale) and only a few 4's, 5's and 6's so the problem was not a lack of visual attractiveness.

Might be just the timing of my visit, so I probably will try again in the future, but my first reaction is "why the hell did you fix it if it wasn't broken?.
