My vist to Club Coyote
I was in Carbondale for business and decided to visit Club Coyote. I'm originally from this area and there really isn't much to choose from. Basically it's this place and JB's... Pony Cabaret in Carbondale was forced to close a little while ago, this should have been expected because strip clubs (or anything resembling strip clubs) are not allowed in the city limits of Carbondale, IL. Outside of Club Coyote and JB's the next closest clubs would be around East Cape and of course the East St. Louis area. Both Club Coyote and JB's are are incredibly mediocre (and that's being generous) but between the two I prefer Club Coyote... so to Club Coyote I went.
I arrived at the club around 11pm; the doorman checked my ID (cover charge is $5) and I was given a wrist band that I immediately removed after siting at the bar. The club is in one of those Tru-Bilt metal buildings (kinda like a metal barn or warehouse) and is relatively attractive once you go inside. The bar is a square with seating all around with the back end of the bar attached to the main stage, there are two smaller dance areas on the opposite ends of the club with a VIP area on the back left side and a private dance area on the back right side. I ordered a vodka and tonic and watched the dancers do their thing. It was a light crowd on this night; SIU in Carbondale was on break and much of Coyote's clientele are SIU college students. There was maybe eight dancers who ranged from above average to kinda busted. There was one mixed/biracial looking dancer the rest were white girls. I sat next to one of the dancers (an okay looking, curvy, big boobed white chick with glasses) who was finesse'n drinks from customers around the bar. While talking to her I learned their old DJ passed away a little while ago and the club had been slow lately (to be expected). I declined an offer for a lap dance ($20 topless, $25 totally nude) I wasn't really interested... most of the dancers are local chicks and I'm sure OTC arrangements can be made if that's your thing (not my thing at least not with any of these women). Most of the music was pop/hip hop /r&b with a little rock or country thrown in depending on the dancer. I got a text from some people I knew about a meet-up a little later that night so I had a couple more drinks then said goodbye to Club Coyote (I left a little after 12:30am). Everything out here closes at 2am so if you are going to go out you need to keep that in mind. Not sure what else I can say about this place... whenever I visit I never spend a lot of money (and sometimes it's okay eye candy) so it works for me. Not a bad spot as long as your expectations are low.
