Finally Some Competition in DC
This is a reopening of the club after a four year interval when it had to close due to the collapse of the building next door. From the pics on the FB page it appears to have been gutted completely and rebuilt from the ground up with only the front wall preserved due to the building being designated a historic preservation building. (It’s the dumbest thing in DC that Camelot, Archibalds, Mpire and now Cloakroom, are in historic preservation buildings. What are they preserving? 18th century cat houses?)
The club is in many ways the same as it was when it opened earlier but has better lighting and new seating configurations. The main stage is huge and is waist high. There is a bar on one side and the other three sides are open so people can stand close to the stage. This results in an MO of the dancers coming up to the very edge of the stage, lying on their back, putting their legs in the air and submitting themselves to a gynecologist’s exam or if they are on their stomach, then a proctologist exam would be in order.
The girls who get checked out this way are showered by rainmakers. In fact almost all the tipping is done by guys (or girls) throwing wads of bills on the stage. One of great jobs some guy has is to sweep up the money thrown on the stage with a huge dust broom to give the bills to the dancer. There is little of the practice at the other DC clubs of putting a dollar in a garter. There is also no tip walk.
