Good vibe, air dances

There is no question that the raids on the strip clubs and their temporary closures earlier this year have had an impact on the experience. That was in full view at the Hustler Club this past weekend. Hustler is not a club I have frequented over the years mainly because the one or two times I had been in the past, I hadn’t had all that great of a time. But I recently met a dancer there while drinking in a fine New Orleans dive bar, and she convinced me to come. I took some notes so I could provide a review.

Hustler has a weird layout. The front room downstairs is fairly small. There is an open courtyard in the interior of the building that is nice, but all in all, the ground floor is nothing special. Most people seemed to hang out on the second floor of the club. I believe they used to charge a VIP admission to go to the second floor, but this was not the case Saturday as I simply walked up. The second floor has both a balcony on the street and a large open view of the main stage. The pole extends up to the second floor. There is a large bar and it had plenty of staff keeping the booze flowing.

When my dancer arrived, I got the tour of the various VIP rooms. This is where the club fell flat on its face. They have a variety of private rooms, none of which seemed very large at all. Each of the rooms had a different price and came with a bottle of champagne to match. For example, the highest end room was $3500 for an hour and came with a high end champagne. The cheapest room was $760 an hour. There were maybe three price points in between in the $1250, $1750, $2500 range. The rooms themselves certainly didn’t seem all that different. I would say the largest was a decent sized walk in closet and the smallest was a small walk in closet. (By comparison, the cash price for an hour with one girl at the Penthouse Club is $575, the rooms are much larger, and your waitress brings you regular drinks at regular bar prices).
