It was......fine.
On a trip to Vancouver, I made a run through a few different clubs. My hotel was near Penthouse, and I was bored on Saturday night, so what the hell. $10 cover to get in, they scan your ID (which seems to be pretty common in BC) and you go up an unmarked staircase, then up a little more staircase, then down a little staircase, and you're behind a seating area. The club is old (they actually run history tours apparently), and it's kind of built like a speakeasy. Coke from the bar was free, and tipping at the stage seemed irregular - sometimes people tip, sometimes they don't (my hunch is that because the smallest CAD bill is a $5, people only tip once in a while).
The stage was smallish and surrounded by (full) chairs, and the rest of seating was a weird little narrow set of tables that you had to squeeze around to get to. Place was pretty full, roughly half normal middle-aged dudes and half couples. There were maybe 5 waitresses circulating at all times, relentlessly checking on everyone regardless of whether your glass is still full or not.
There are only 5-6 stage dancers I guess, and I recognized a couple of them from a trip to the Number 5 a while back - it looks like there might be some kind of rotation through BC clubs. While I was there, Hallie Stone and Vanessa Damore took turns (I found the booker's website afterward), both stupidly hot, doing 4-5 songs in a row and losing clothes as they went, eventually fully nude. Tippers got an extra bit of show up-close, and they had actual impressive pole tricks. There was another dancer scheduled who never showed up - according to sexy-voiced female DJ, she was nearby but couldn't find parking.
