Elysium: Not 'paradise' and not Greek either
While exploring the Bunker Hill strip scene I stopped here in search of class. Unfortunately this is a BYOB establishment, and unlike most BYOB places I've visited, there was no bar/liquor store adjacent to purchase supplies last minute. In other words, if you don't come prepared, you're assed out. That makes it very non-local unfriendly. Because it's BYOB it's also very expensive for things that you do buy on site; this evening cover was $20 and soft drinks were being sold as mixers for $5 each. Since I was driving not being able to indulge myself was an acceptable downside, so I went ahead and committed anyways. In retrospect, I should have done an about-face and left.
The main floor is fairly large, but the stage takes up far too much room, relegating seating to the edges. There were only 3 dancers this evening, which was appropriate because there were hardly any customers either. The first dancer was an attractive spinner named "Kilo" and I engaged her in conversation after her set. With no drink to offer small talk was over quickly, and she suggested a dance. According to the card on the table single dances were $15. When we got back to the veiled couch area she quoted me a price of $50 for a dance. I pointed out what the card said and she began to back-peddle, but I had already had enough. If you're passing through town, keep on passing this place.
