Consistently good
I finally made it back to the Filly after another inexcusably long absence. (I’m hoping to make semi-regular visits over the summer if work and other stuff allows.) A lot of things remain the same with the Filly, but I have to say there was a decidedly different vibe this trip.
(If you get bored with managerial discussions skip to the next paragraph.) I arrived just before 9pm on a Saturday night. When I entered, the two door men (along with most of the male employees) were wearing shirts with the club’s logo. (Not that any of y’all care, but it was something different than normal IMO.) The music level was perfect (as in not overly loud). That’s not necessarily out of character, but the DJ was obviously not VJ Ho (difference #2). They have indeed added a snack bar behind the DJ booth (difference #3). Then, when I finally went to the dance room, no Tom (difference #4). So, WTF is up with management here? Isn’t Tom running this place anymore?
I sat at the stage most of the night. Things were a bit slow at first (~9pm), but picked up to a comfortable level by 9.30. Things were getting ‘busy’ / ‘full’ by 10.30-11 IMO. By midnight it was standing room only. I guess that is a good sign that business is good. (I had been worried that all the new promotions (difference #5 BTW), snack bar addition, etc. were signs of a sinking ship.) The flip side to this was that there were few if any dancers mingling about as they were all busy with customers. There was literally one point where there was only one dancer sitting at the bar and the two that were on stage with all the others in the back. The dancers were so busy that the stage manager was struggling to find two dancers to put on stage. Also, the customers were tipping well at the stage. 8 or 9 months ago this place was full of rocks and hardly any tipping at the stage, but this time dancers were leaving the stage with mega fists full if dollar bills.
