Warning: smoking allowed/encouraged at Penthouse

I don't like breathing second hand smoke and I don't like smelling like an ash tray after a visit to a club. Don't get me wrong-- I have no problem with people who choose to smoke. People should have choice to do with their bodies as they wish, including smoking as long as I am not forced to breath their smoke.

I used to count on a number of Detroit clubs to either enforce a no smoking policy in the club (e.g., Criket) or to restrict smoking to areas that have good ventilation (such as the upstairs smoking bars as Flight Club and Penthouse). Far too many of the other Detroit clubs simply fail to enforce the state wide ban on smoking in their club and I typically avoid those clubs. Thus I was shocked when I stopped by Penthouse, sat down at the downstairs bar and the waitress immediately puts out an ash tray for me and the others sitting at the bar (historically the downstairs area was always smoke free). I then noticed that a number of other patrons were smoking at the tables downstairs. I stayed long enough to get a dance from an attractive, slender blonde but left vowing to never return.
