I hit up Shakers on a Friday night around 20:30. The cover was $10, which is reasonable for a BYOB club. You are only allowed to bring beer in cans. There is no hard liquor or glass bottles allowed. You can bring in coolers. There is no business of having to buy tubs of ice from the club. In fact, this is the only club I have ever been to without a wait staff. If you want a soda, Gatorade, or water, one of the vending machines sells twenty ounce bottles for $2. Another vending machine sells cans of soda for $1. Some guys were coming in with fountain sodas from the gas station that I’d presume were spiked with hard alcohol. You are allowed to go in and out if you have a stamp on the back of your hand. I think some patrons would walk out for awhile to drink hard alcohol in their trucks.

The club is out in the middle of nowhere, fifteen to twenty minutes south of Dubuque. The parking lot is gravel. The club is basically one large room with a large main stage running down the middle of it. There were two stationary poles on the stage, but only one dancer would dance at a time. Dancers would do three song sets. There appeared to be another large stage along the back of the club, but it was being used to store large garbage bags of empty beer cans left behind by patrons. The club gets five cents per can they return; they are making money off of aluminum and strippers. The bathroom is in the corner of the club and was pretty nasty. It reeked from poor ventilation. The urinal is a rusty trough.

There were eight dancers working on the Friday night shift. Seven of the eight were Caucasian. This is a nude club, but I only witnessed two of the eight dancers get completely nude. Most would only flash their kitty. Some dancers gave stage contact, while others expected you to toss your tips onto the stage. Every female that visited the club was dragged onto stage and had her top pulled off. Here was the line-up:
