St. James Review
St. James was the second of two clubs I checked out on my first-ever visit to Houston. From the reviews, I thought this would be a hit, but ultimately, for me it was more of a miss.
I arrived on a Friday night about 8:20, and the large parking lot was pretty well packed – or at least the non-valet area was. The cover was $15, and bottled water (Voss) was something like $6.50. It's a nicely-appointed club, and though I did not partake, I was told a lot of people come for the food, especially at lunchtime. Smoking is allowed (including cigars), but it did not seem to be a problem.
I sat at the bar next to a dancer, whom I chatted up to get a sense of how things worked. It's a big place, with a main stage and two smaller stages. Girls dance (topless only) on the main stage, then rotate to one or both of the satellite stages, although I talked to several girls who said they would not be dancing that night – which they are allowed to do if they pay the DJ.
