Risqué is now defunct. The new club is known as ESQ opened yesterday. Originally Risqué occupied the larger area of the building and the smaller one was knows as a regular club called Murmurs. The clubs have now be switched sides with ESQ (Murmurs) occupying the smaller area and Murmurs (Risqué) taking over the Risqué area. It is currently closed and is in the process of being renovated.

ESQ is a lot smaller club, upscale and very nice. As you walk in the bar takes up the center area, the one main stage is off to your left. It is pretty plain, with a pole in the middle. It is better than the Boudoir club in the fact it is off on its own where in the other club it is behind the bar. The setup of the majority of the club is setup for groups of people with few one or two seat tables.

They have a private dance area separate from the club. I do not know the prices but I assume they are the same as the other clubs in Calgary are all owned by the same company. I arrived just after opening and there were no dancers in the club. I only stayed for about 45 minutes and there were no shows and none announced. The only good thing was there was no cover charge and it was happy hour and draft beer was $4.75 a glass. There was no other entertainment outside of the dancers, no TVs or pool tables.

I doubt I will return as Calgary clubs are pretty boring as a rule and the lack of any entertainment dancers or otherwise makes it a dull place.
