Got to disagree with the emerging...
Got to disagree with the emerging concensus that this is a good club if you go late enough. Stayed fairly late Friday night, and the quality of dancers didn't improve as it got later. Also disagree about contact. Some dancers might be willing, but the guy watching the dance room, at least the night I was there, was vigilent. YMMV, but see below.
What's the place like? Imagine you know some 19 year old white kids in Jersey. They've convinced their parents to let them redo he basement as a 70s themed nightclub, but the ceilings too low for a disco ball. Dad had a bar in the corner, and they get some plush carpet and matching chairs from goodwill. They put together a wooden fence with three sides, put it in front of the bar, slightly raised but when a dancer gets inside it and gets on all fours, you have to be standing above her to see her. Then they invite you over for "strip club" night. They invited some of the easier girls in school to dance. Most are black, some are very fat, none are zombies, but none are what you'd call pretty. Now, move that basement to the former Office location, but don't change anything else. And you've got: The Gold Club.
I'll admit, it was fun. The dancers seem to love being there, they hang out with each other, the bouncer weighed less than my kid sister, it was loose and casual and completely non-threatening. A couple of patrons were trying to look like gangsters, but they were posing. One tried to look like Ice-T, but dressed like Prince. Everyone smoked. One dancer had two cigs going at once.
