Last SC Visit Of My Life
Made a recent stop here as I was returning home from a medical appointment in Edmonton. My failing health means I use a walker as mobility aid now. Rig Pig is definitely not handicapped friendly. I knew immediately the visit was a mistake as I struggled to enter the club, manoeuvring the walker clumsily. Whatever........
I did make it into the club and was forced to sit at a table. Both the bar (my regular spot) and gyno row being unsuitable for someone using a walker meant bad news for the bartender and the dancers since I am normally a generous tipper. The regular crew of traveling dancers was in evidence here. The current week's crop was not particularly enticing. The club was rather dead.......probably as a result of the severe downturn in the oil patch and not because of the below average crop of dancers. The usual energy in the club was non-existent. Few rig pigs tossing loonies and toonies at the girls and correspondingly, low energy, boring dances from those same girls.
I had one reasonably priced virgin Caesar ($5 with tip) and watched just 2 dancer sets. My interest in strippers was almost non-existent. I made a single tour around the big room, eyeing the old rig identifier signs. I stopped for a few moments before the rig sign from my old company, remembering the former employees of 35 years ago whose fading signatures adorned the old sign. With a lump in my throat I exited the club as quick as the damned walker allowed.
