I wanted to give it a fair shake.....
My husband and I were coming home from dinner and he said "hey, let's go to a club or someplace fun," but there is not a lot of anything around here so I asked him if he wanted to stop by the old Jade Lounge, now doing business as "Sidelines 2 Silhouettes." It was a mistake. When we walked in (an hour after their supposed opening time) the place was empty, aside from the manager and two other non-dancer employees...one woman who stood in a dark corner staring at us and a guy that appeared to be the cleaning person. The first thing that I noticed was that it was FREEZING COLD and (as a woman) I wondered how anyone could take their clothes off and dance in subzero temps. The place is really run down, the walls behind the dancing area are bare plywood, the bar stools are torn and mismatched, it's damp and smells of mold. When we sat down at the bar, there was no music, the lights were all on and after about 5 minutes of waiting the "manager" came over and turned on the TV and asked us what we wanted to drink. The drinks were watered down (horribly) and I was shocked after the second round (two beers and two mixed drinks) the tab was already up to $33! After about 20 minutes, another younger gentleman walked in and ordered a soda and after sitting and chatting with us for a bit, asked the manager/bartender if there were any dancers in the place....to which he said yes, she would be out in a minute. The first dancer came out and stood behind the bar downing shot after shot right in front of us and wearing a full blow winter parka. Now, as a woman who often goes to strip clubs with my guy friends and husband, I'm used to the ladies always being super welcoming and tending to chat me up more than the boys....NOT in this case, instead she was super sweet to the two men in the place (my husband and the younger fellow) and snubbed me (except to ask me for a cigarette lighter.) Two more patrons came in, a "regular" and a curious first timer and sat down by the dancing area to wait for her to finish downing shots and going outside to smoke cigarettes before coming in and turning on music herself, walking out and saying it was too loud for her, walking back and adjusting the volume and then finally making her way to the stage. It wasn't pretty in the least bit. She basically walked back and forth topless with her hands over her head...there was no dance. Then the second dancer comes walking in yelling about a police roadblock, cursing like a sailor and asked me to use my lighter. It was just comical at this point. The ATM did not work, the women's bathroom was gross (a tiny room with two toilets right next to one another, one taped shut with black electrical tape) and the garbage overflowing with used tampon applicators and the only food that was offered was a frozen pizza if you were hungry. To top it off, the only promise was a game of pool (one small pool table) but the employee who was cleaning when we first arrived had paid for a game, played half of it himself and then took a break (leaving his cue and remaining balls on the table so no one else could use it.) There was a lot of strange things going on, cargo vans kept pulling up and around the back and a bunch of dudes were unloading whatever was in the vans into the back of the house that the club is in. Just a bizarre night. I asked the manager why this place wasn't doing better (it was obvious, but still a shame) and he had nothing to offer. Sad.
