Boudoir Rouge, pretty much the only strip club in Calgary and it is hampered by Alberta Law.

Boudoir Rouge, along with the Cathouse and Risqué Rouge, are the only 3 strip clubs in Calgary, and they are all owned by the same franchise. The feel for each is pretty much the same. The dancers themselves will often rotate between the 3 clubs on a weekly basis so comparing between the 3 is kind of moot. Unlike the Cathouse, Boudoir and Risqué do have male performers though. The setting and feel for each are almost all the same. Each club has a centre stage that is at least 10 feet away. Boudoir does have a separate stage that they use during the weekends. Being on the downtown core, it is slightly more expensive compared to the other two. $32/5 mins instead of $30/5 minutes for private dances, 50 cents to 1$ more for drinks. It does also get more packed on the weekend.

For private dances, one of the things you must know is that Alberta prohibits contact between strippers and the patrons and this goes both ways. What you get in a private dance is really just an up close performance, similar to watching porn with your face glued to the TV. As mentioned, $32 for 5 minutes is pretty expensive, especially given that you absolutely cannot touch the dancers. You can go for VIP show, which really is just bringing you to a booth instead of a lounge area for the performance.

As for the dance shows themselves, for the most part they are okay, albeit kind of repetitive. Almost all the girls go to the same routine. Each performance lasts for 2 to 5 songs. In each song they remove one layer of clothing. And the last song, they stay on the stage and pretty much go to all the patrons on the front row to play a coin throwing game. They either lick a coin or magnet to have it glued to their body and you try to knock it out by tossing your loonies or toonies. In some cases they roll up a poster and you try to get it inside the poster. I personally find it kind of degrading, but the dancers do enjoy it (maybe because they enjoy taking your money away from you).
