Lunch Time Pussy In Browns
This is venue is part of the now dwindling, "Money in the jug" pub strip circuit in London. 10 years ago there were probably 25 venues of this type within in the central London area, now there are less than 10 (and a couple of those are best avoided). I do prefer this type of venue to expensive entrance fee type venues, because by putting a pound coin in the girls collection jugs for each dance you pay for exactly how long you are in the venue which seems more fair. This venue is run by the same owners as 'The Horns' which is a short walk down the road. This means that you will find the same girls working in the two venues. The "Upmarket" decor gives 'Browns' a club type atmosphere but the free admission and money in the jug system put it firmly on the pub circuit in my eyes, as opposed to poncey, expensive venues like 'Spearmint Rhino'. It's been recently refurbished, but on the whole this has neither improved or spoiled the venue, it just seems to have put everything in a different place. The bar and stage have swapped places and the entrance and toilets are not where they used to be. The only slightly negative change is that I do think the poles could do with being nearer the front of the stage, (but that's nit picking really.) On the whole (as ever), there's little to complain about in 'Browns'. The stage lighting is good (not the case in every venue on the circuit,) and you can sit right against the stage, (with a shelf for drinks,) for nice close up view.
Popped in for an hour before going down road to Ye Olde Axe. Girls were mostly top quality, good looks and good acts. DJ mumbled so I couldn't make out girls names. It was quiet for punters. Years ago it was busy on a weekday lunchtime with blokes from nearby offices taking their lunch there. This doesn't seem to happen anymore. Girls asked for dances but weren't pesty about it and took no for an answer.
