The Ritz is a club that has undergone a lot of changes in the last couple of years.

It has been consistently the best club in south Houston for many years. It is a very large club with some very nice fancy features. A lot of renovation has gone on in the last few years and for the most part the club is very upscale except for some of the older shabbier furniture in the main room.

The thing that really hurt the club a little over a year ago is when they agreed to be one of the 16 clubs that signed an agreement with the mayor's office. In exchange for a yearly contribution to help fight sex slave trafficking, and removing private VIP areas, they were allowed to let dancers work without a license. The dancers in addition could go topless and wear g-strings and not respect the 3 foot private dance rule. This doesn't sound drastic on paper, but in practice, the management became ultra-vigilant in making sure no hanky-panky occurred in the club. This club had been full of players, and this effectively drove most of them away. In addition, even lap dances became very lame. Naturally, this led to a massive drop in business with many regular patrons and dancers moving away.
