My wife decided several months ago that she wanted us to start going to SC’s. We live close to Huntsville but she had been checking out the ones in Birmingham and had read a lot of great reviews about the Furnace plus the website made the inside look amazing. We had already been to 2 clubs in Huntsville a couple of times so when we went to the Furnace we sort of already knew what to expect and what to do. I’ll go ahead and tell you right up front that we will never go back to the Furnace. It had the least friendly atmosphere towards couples that we’ve encountered so far.

The outside of the club looks great. The parking lot is well lit and completely surrounded by a fence for added security. We were actually in awe walking up because it looked so nice. Plus, the parking lot was packed. There was easily 200 cars filling the lot but we easily found a spot close to the front door. Upon entering the lobby we were greeted and had our ID’s checked but I was not put through a pat down process like I get at our favorite club. I have no problem with a pat down because it simply makes sense to me but I find it weird that some clubs do it and some don’t. The lobby looked very nice and clean and was very well lit. Cover was $10 per so we paid our $20 and entered. We thought $20 was a little steep but you never know until you try something so we paid the fee and moved on.

When we entered there was 1 main room and it is pretty massive. We stood there for a few seconds taking it all in and I’m sure both of our mouths had dropped open a bit. The club is basically a big square 2 story warehouse. There was a large stage against the back wall that extended out into the middle of the room. The weird thing was they had 2 poles on the stage but they were only about 6’ tall. Who decided on that? Pole work consisted of a dancer simple spinning around the pole which was a huge let down. Also, the stage was 5’ off the ground which meant there were no seats actually around the stage. There were chairs and tables out in the room but it resembled going to a concert watching a band. Everyone had to walk up to the stage (which came up to most peoples shoulders) and simply toss a few dollars on the stage then simply go back to their seat. No one was really moving around. Everyone simple sat in one spot for most of the night and occasionally a dancer would go talk to someone and go over to the couch to do and air dance. The vibe of this place was like a funeral home.
