Las Chavelas is not where you will find a super-hottie trophy dancer to take upstairs. Go to one of the clubs next door for that. But, if you go down that route - be prepared for a much more "intense" or hardened environment where you need to keep you wallet guarded and your negotiating skills honed.

Not to say that I don't swim in those waters, too. I do. But, in Chavelas, I've always found a lady to my liking, and I enjoy the environment much more than the bigger clubs. With one exception, which is during the evening hours when there is a band playing "banda" music, when I just leave because it is so fucking loud. Aside from that time, if you can handle a lady who is over 25, and might carry ten extra pounds (or maybe fifty extra pounds), you'll find plenty to your liking here. They won't break the bank, they seem more appreciative (and less expectant) of a drink or tip. You can go for a little bit of slow dancing to get a feel for mutual chemistry here, a test ride of sorts before buying.

The meseros can be pesky, as is the case everywhere. And, yes, this is La Zona Norte, so the girls are there for one thing - your pesos. But, comparatively, there is a much more laid back atmosphere than elsewhere in La Zona. And, Cascadas is the affiliated hotel - so there is no bar fine if you pull a youngun' out of this bar.
