I decided to drop into Browns...

I decided to drop into Browns for a change from the White Horse. I arrived just before 4pm after a business meeting. No entry charge but I was pounced on for a pound as soon as I got inside the door by a dancer who was doing the rounds with a jug. The place wasn't busy but there was a crowd around the bar and it took quite a while to get a drink. Despite her being in a hurry to collect my pound, the girl who accosted at the entrance took an age to make it onto the stage. This was pretty much a sign of things to come. At least fifteen minutes went by between each dance. While each girl danced the next one came around with a jug to collect for the next performance (so I figure I just missed one when I arrived) but then there is a long wait for the dance.

The dances take place on a large stage. The main problem is there is barely any seating and if you do find a seat you can't see the dance when it does start because the crowd at the bar all wander over and take pole position (forgive the pun) right in front of the stage. Its really irritating. This doesn't happen at the White Horse down the road, which is altogether a better experience. The dances are fully nude but there wasn't much in the way of pole work in the time I spent there. The girls are mostly quite attractive but some don't look too interested in stage dancing and only really care about offering private dances. At least they don't get upset if you refuse.

I was going to leave after an hour but a dancer came around that I really liked. She pointed out the dances were only £10 and this was the last chance before the price went up after 5pm so I thought for that price I'd give her a go. It was just an air dance but quite sexy and the girl was quite chatty. She asked me if I visited regularly and I said no, which was my mistake because when I went for a second song she wanted £30 in total for the two songs as it was after 5pm. I actually liked the girl and I didn't want to make a scene so I paid up but it left a bad taste and even more so when I found out that even after 5pm the second dance should have only been £15. If I'd done my homework I'd have saved at least a fiver but really if you start at £10 I expected to carry on at £10 until leaving the dancing booth.
