[I had a chance to visit a few clubs on my recent trip to Montreal and none of the clubs compared to the premier gentlemen's clubs in the United States. What I found unique with each club in Montreal is that the door guys ALL expect a tip to walk you into the club even if you are sitting at the bar (maybe they do not earn an hourly wage from the club). I don't care about a few bucks but I don't like having to tip someone that really isn't providing me with any kind of service. Additionally, none of these clubs is really high-end and none serve food like you find at most premier clubs.]
Late Friday afternoon I was in downtown Montreal and I figured I would check out Chez Paree to see what kind of happy hour they offered. Since it was just up the street from my hotel, it was a quick walk. I arrived around 6:45pm and found the club was pretty dead. While this club is considered one of the nicer clubs in Montreal, it's basically just a strip joint. As you walk in there is a small bar to the right, the stage directly in front of you and a larger bar to the left. To the left of the club there are a few stairs up to a separate area where the girls offer dances. It's $5 each time you go up there with a girl and along both sides of the wall are partitions and a small chair in each partition. There is a little curtain for partial privacy.
While I wasn't expecting to see this place as busy at 7pm as you would at midnight, I did expect to see some local businessmen kick starting their weekends after work. There were only a handful of customers and about the same number of dancers. I did see a couple dancers that were kind of attractive but upon closer inspection one was all inked up and the other was a little bigger than I liked. I had one extremely over-priced drink and then decided to go back to my hotel and return later that evening.
