This was the first club that I hit up with my friend on our second night of our San Diego strip club binge (see other reviews from this time period). We wanted to get a couple of drinks to start the night and this is one of only two clubs in the area that serves alcohol. Since we had already hit the other alcohol-serving club the previous night (Pacers), we decided to try Pure Platinum.
The club is located right off the highway (805), like most clubs in San Diego, and it's in a pretty secluded area next to a bunch of car shops. The club interior is average in terms of San Diego standards. There's a large bar at the back with a couple of smallish TVs showing sports. In the middle are circular tables and plush chairs and at the front is the stage. Off to the left is the private area for single dances, which is pretty exposed, and on the right are a couple of booths closed off by semi-opaque curtains where you can extended VIP sessions. There also looked like a even more private room (Platinum area), but we didn't bother going back there. One weird thing about the stage is that it's got a higher ceiling than the seating area so you're constantly craning your neck to look up at the girls which can kind of hurt your neck after a while.
The beer was moderately priced ($6 for a regular draft) so you don't get gouged getting alcohol here, although we didn't get any mixed drinks. On this particular night, we saw 15-20 girls, which seemed a bit low for 9PM on a Friday night. But it was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend so a number of dancers may have been off. Of the girls we saw, we weren't that impressed. Most were in the 6-7 range, a couple of 5's, and only one girl we would classify as a 9-10. Sadly, this hottie got snagged by some guy who took her to the VIP for several sessions so we couldn't even get a single dance with her. That said, we could see the action through the curtains in the VIP and it looked like she was mostly an air dancer. Of the remaining girls that approached us, most were friendly and would chat for a bit, but none really caught our eye for dances. A lot of the girls were much older (i.e. late 30s) or on the heavier side. After surveying the landscape, we booked out after downing our beers.
