I’m always curious to see how local customs fit with “chain” clubs, so when my travels brought me to Evansville I decided to check out the local Pony. The club is tucked into a side street just off Lloyd Expressway, so it’s easily accessible if not quite simple to find on a first visit. Parking is pretty limited, though the lot was sparsely populated when I dropped in on a Tuesday night. At peak hours it may be OK to park in the lot of the motel next door, but frankly the place looked rather sketchy.

In contrast to its surroundings the interior of the club seemed relatively clean and up-to-date, albeit simple. You enter beside a long counter where the door girl takes your cover charge (which includes two non-alcoholic drinks). Past the counter on the left you enter the main floor – a long, low stage takes up about two-thirds of the room, with loose tables and lounge seating around both sides and clustered at the entrance end. DJ booth, lap dance area, and private spaces are all at the far side beyond the stage. The lighting is pretty dim even by club standards, so it may take your eyes some time to adjust (especially if you arrive in daylight hours).

Dancers seem to do a pretty typical 3-4 song stage set, and judging by the rotation there were probably a dozen or so women on duty this particular evening. Not much ethnic variety, but overall quality was strong and there was an interesting mix of “girl next door” types and those more suited to the Suicide Girls aesthetic – both of which appeal to me depending on my mood, so no complaints there. I’d give an average rating of 7, as I didn’t see anyone I’d rate above an 8 but no worse than a soft 6 working during my visit.
