Even though I'm local NYC, I don't go out clubbing here. They always seems way to expensive, a bit of attitude and populated with Eastern European - Russian girls who always ask, "Vant a Dance?"
Having been out for another event earlier in the evening and after checking out some TUSCL reviews first, I decided to give Rick's a try.
I was a little surprised that the club seemed kind-a small. You go in, take a long hall on the right and then walk into the space basically in the middle. This night, I was hit with a slight bit of a sweaty stench as I walked in but it went away or I got used to it. Main stage is to the left with steps up to a balcony (and VIP rooms I gather). Straight ahead was a small stage with a bar behind. For a Tuesday, the place was pretty crowded and with the narrowness of it, I found myself adrift, standing in the middle ducking out of the way of waitresses, other patrons and dancers a few times. From the bar area, neither stage is very clear to see. I did for a time sit where I could see the little stage, but the bouncers kept standing in front of me. On my night, there was a very friendly and chipper bathroom troll as well.
