According to a judge's ruling on Friday, the Furnace and the City of Birmingham entered into a binding agreement in 2001 that if the Furnace met all of the requirements set forth by the city, all permits and liscences would be released by the city. The judge further stated that it appeared that the Furnace has met these requirements. City attourneys will be meeting with the mayor and council, and it would appear that if they do not issue a liquor liscence and dance permit, there will probably be another lawsuit, which at this point does not look to be in the city's favor.
