I visited Centerfolds on a recent business trip to Houston. I almost always visit Centerfolds as it is one of my favorite clubs anywhere. I entered Centerfolds about 8:30 pm and a dancer I knew from before met me in the doorway. She escorted me to my seat and immediately began the VIP sell. I was a bit turned off (even though she was hot) and asked her to come back later.

Centerfolds has a metal detector which you pass through before you pay cover ($12) and then you go through a doorway on your left into the main club. You first pass the remains of a buffet line (I don't eat in clubs) and then you come to the bar on your left and the main stage on your right. Along the outsides of the clubs are booths which are where most of the LD's are done. LD's are $20 per song. Drinks were still Happy Hour prices, I think a mixed drink was 3.75. That is a decent deal.

At some point in the past six months, Centerfolds has changed their second floor to VIP/Champagne room only. Before this, my favorite part of the club was upstairs. I think they had a VIP room somewhere else, which is now unused. Since I refuse to pay $ 60 - $125 for a bottle, I never go up there anymore. On this night I noticed a distinct change in the approach of the dancers. I felt like I was at the former Treasures. The dancers were very aggressive and the whole pitch was to get you into the VIP for fun. The dancers were mixed in age, race, build, etc. and are generally 7 - 9's, but the approach was just too aggressive and too heavy on the big sell for my taste. One of the reasons I really liked Centerfolds was that I thought it was much more laid back and one could enjoy some conversation and cocktails before the attack began. I will probably go back, as it deserves another chance, but I did not enjoy this visit and may have to find a new favorite.
