The furnace used to be my favorite strip club to visit. After not having been in almost a year, a group of my friends and myself decided to go last Thursday. We arrived at 11pm and the strip club was pretty packed. Since we had a group of six, we had to spend quite some time standing and waiting on enough chairs to open up close enough together to accommodate us. Once we were lucky enough to get enough seats, we were immediately hounded by multiple strippers for private dances even though we hadn't shown any interest in anything but trying to find seats since we got there. In the first twenty minutes we were approached by at least 6 different strippers, and one stripper three times. I know most customers want to be approached at least a time or two during their night, but desperation is not attractive. Our waitress was excellent and very attentive, I have no complaints there. The dancers I remember from my frequenting days all seem to have moved on with their lives and the majority of the new dancers are a lot less attractive. My overall experience was not so bad that I would never go back, but I definitely did not have feel like I got my money or time's worth out of this visit and I may not be back for awhile. The last complaint that I have is that Birmingham has passed a law that does not allow smoking inside of the building. At other strip clubs in town, they have convenient side doors that lead out to heated areas where you can smoke, at the furnace you are forced to go back out the front door and stand outside in the cold parking lot while you smoke. Afterwards, you must go back in through the front entrance and show you have already paid each time you want to smoke. This is not really the furnace's fault, but they could figure out a way to accommodate the smokers a little better I believe.
