I went to Mitzi’s on a Tuesday nite, and despite being the only club for miles around, it was pretty dead. There were only five customers, and one of the dancers told me it was about normal for a weeknight. It’s a comfortable club, with one stage and a pool table in the back.

The club is BYO. There is a $10 cover, which I thought was OK, but the $1.75 per beer just to get your own beer back seemed a little whack. There are private dances for $40, but I wasn’t interested enough to find out how much contact is involved.

Of the three dancers there that nite, only one was what I would call attractive: an slender, friendly black woman who called herself Amber. The other two dancers were both young, white women with more than a few extra pounds on them in all the wrong places.
